Our Pedagogy & Approach

Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE)

Our interactions with children are informed by Magda Gerber’s Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE) and rooted in respect and authenticity.

Reggio Emilia

Drawing inspiration from the Reggio Emilia philosophy we see young children as competent and capable initiators of their own learning.

Anti-Bias, Identity, & Community

It is important to us that our program supports the identity learning that is central to infant & toddler development. Our practice and curriculum take into account how children see themselves as individuals and as members of a community.

Meg is deliberate in every aspect of her educational approach. Her communicative skills are magical to behold, as they reveal her deep respect for babies and young children as learners whose own agency deserves recognition. In Meg’s classroom, babies “worked” with the material or “told a joke” to the teachers. They have “friends.” We also appreciated that her language choices avoided gratuitously gendering the babies and their actions. Driven by her observational acuity, Meg treated children as individuals and established truly personal relationships with each, meeting them on their own developmental plane where they learned deeply and joyfully, as themselves.
